Self-Love is Healthy Love

Self-Love is Healthy Love

As part of our philanthropic mission, Alpha Chi Omega's Healthy Relationships Week serves as a reminder to foster and develop healthy relationships and, by so doing, prevent domestic violence and sexual assault. Every year, we dedicate a week to raising awareness and promoting positive relationship behaviors through Healthy Relationships Week (HRW). This year’s HRW took place February 10-14, 2025, and our focus went back to the basics: self-love!

Healthy relationships start from within by showing ourselves love and compassion. A strong foundation of self-love helps set the stage for other forms of relationships in our lives. During this week, Alpha Chi Omega chapters across the nation engaged in activities, events and discussions centered around self-love and its important role in cultivating healthy relationships.

Each of our collegiate chapters received “Love Is…” buttons and were encouraged to utilize them within their chapter and/or on campus to get people thinking about what love is to them! Chapters also received “You Are Loved” stickers as a way to spread our healthy love messageA new Program with Purpose titled Love Yourself, Love Others: The Key to Healthy Relationships launched for HRW. The program promoted peer-lead discussions on the challenges of self-love while emphasizing its importance for maintaining healthy relationships.

Take a look at some of the initiatives our chapters planned for Healthy Relationships Week 2025!

Alpha Chi Omega
Beta Sigma (University of Georgia) hosted a “Love Should Be Sweet” philanthropy event in honor of HRW.

Alpha Chi Omega
Beta Psi (Louisiana Tech University) hosted a “Love Is…” booth on campus to promote healthy relationships. Later in the week, the chapter hosted a Pawsitive Connections event with adoptable dogs.

Alpha Chi Omega
Gamma Sigma (University of Rhode Island) sold chocolate covered strawberries on campus to raise money for its local domestic violence agency.

As we reflect on Healthy Relationships Week, be reminded that self-love is not a one-week event but a continuous journey requiring personal commitment. When we prioritize self-love, we are better prepared to foster and develop healthy relationships with those around us
