By Cameron Daniels (Alpha Upsilon, The University of Alabama)
My time as an Alpha Chi Omega in the Alpha Upsilon chapter at The University of Alabama was the most incredible experience I have ever gained and will always hold near and dear to my heart. I could not imagine my life without The University of Alabama and especially Alpha Chi Omega. If you would have told freshman-year Cameron that she was going to be working as a chapter consultant for Alpha Chi Omega headquarters, she would not have believed you. I remember seeing the interest session for the 2023-24 chapter consultant team, and my family and friends encouraged me to attend because they knew how much Alpha Chi Omega has changed my life – and I wanted to change the lives of many other collegians. Before I knew it, I was being interviewed by headquarters for the chapter consultant role and accepted the position.
I was placed in the resident chapter consultant position at the University of Mississippi to work closely with another resident consultant, Emily Davison, at the new Lambda Pi chapter. I was eager to move to Oxford, Mississippi to start coaching and creating close relationships with the young women there. Soon, spring semester turned into graduation, graduation turned into summer, and summer turned into starting my career as a chapter consultant for Alpha Chi Omega. I packed my belongings and started my new journey in Mississippi!
The University of Mississippi and Lambda Pi have been nothing but an absolute blessing in my life. Starting with their first year of primary recruitment, these young women shined and dove right into a process they had never done before with such positivity, grace and eagerness. It was so special to watch these women push themselves and encourage each other to recruit an amazing new member class – and they sure did. The members of Lambda Pi are the definition of hard-working, passionate and loyal to Alpha Chi Omega. Being their chapter consultant means helping them grow into young professionals and lead Alpha Chi Omega with devotion. Every day, these young women remind me of myself. In love with Alpha Chi Omega, they are strong leaders, and they want to make a difference in the community. They love hard, motivate each other and make sure that everyone has a place in Alpha Chi Omega. I have seen this with their philanthropy and sisterhood events, meals at the house, during chapter, gamedays and everywhere in between.
These young women have introduced me to the University of Mississippi culture, yummy restaurants, fabulous shopping, and beautiful places to explore in Oxford. Along with Emily, the other resident chapter consultant with me in Oxford (and my coworker and best friend), I love to explore Oxford in my free time! Living and working with another chapter consultant is so much fun and has been the biggest blessing. I am very thankful for Emily because we lift each other up on the days we need motivation; she is my biggest supporter, and best of all, we are a team. I couldn’t ask for a better teammate in this role, and it makes me excited for what the next day is going to bring.
I absolutely cherish every single moment being a resident chapter consultant and cannot wait for the spring semester!
