Three boards and one staff directed by and for our members
Like many not-for-profit organizations, Alpha Chi Omega is directed by volunteer leaders and managed day-to-day by a paid professional staff.
All of our volunteer leaders are Alpha Chi Omega members. They are either elected or appointed to boards or committees.
Most of our
professional staff are Alpha Chi Omegas, too. In fact, even when non-Greek women have joined our staff, they’ve often been so impressed with our organization that they become alumna initiates!
What all that means to you: when you work with our boards and staff members, you’re being served by your sisters who care deeply about the success of each and every interaction you have with Alpha Chi Omega.
The structure of our organization is fairly simple. We have three corporations, each of which has a separate board.
First, there’s Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity, Inc. This is our original and primary organization, officially designated as a women’s fraternity, commonly known as a sorority. The fraternity is run by an elected volunteer board called the
National Council.
Second, there’s the
Alpha Chi Omega Foundation. It’s a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation that raises, stewards and grants funds to benefit Alpha Chi Omega’s educational and philanthropic endeavors. The Foundation is managed by the
Foundation Board of Trustees, some of whom serve by virtue of their office, some of whom are appointed by the National Council, and some of whom are elected for rotating terms by current Foundation Board members.
Third, there’s the
Alpha Chi Omega National Housing Corporation. This not-for-profit corporation owns and operates some of our chapters’ facilities and provides support services for other houses that are owned by campus-specific entities. This corporation is managed by the
National Housing Corporation Board of Directors, whose members include one ex-officio National Council member and the balance appointed by the National Council.
